Buddy Scheme

Buddy Scheme

Our Buddy Scheme offers young people 24–48 hours of 1:1 support with a staff member, focusing on a goal that matters to them. This could be anything from trying a new activity, building social skills, or simply gaining confidence in a new environment. The buddy provides encouragement, structure, and practical support, helping each young person work towards greater independence in a safe and supportive way.

“Isaac now catches the bus to school independently. His buddy Graham is always just a phone call or text away which really re-assures Isaac. Recently Tooting suffered a major burst water main, meaning that buses were not running from their usual stops. This didn’t phase Isaac; he just put into practice what he had learnt from Graham and got on with it. I was so proud of him!”

“Without Generates support, Isaac would still be taking the school taxi every day. This made him really miserable as the taxi spent so much time completing the school run. Now he gets an extra 40 minutes in bed in the mornings, and for a teenager that’s massive.”
