As national reports tell us, there are too many health inequalities in our society and people with a learning disability are still dying earlier than they should do. These are some of the things we’re doing to help change this…
We run the Easyhealth Website, where you can find easy to understand health information all in one place.
Having information in an easy read format means that people with a learning disability are much more likely to be able to understand their health and follow vital advice. The information can be used as a tool to talk, discuss and ask questions.
“The Easyhealth website has been widely promoted to all the GP practices in Wandsworth, where it is actively used by the doctors and health staff. GPs have found they can readily provide information to their patients during the consultation.”
– Tarlochan, Wandsworth CCG Health Facilitator
“Providing information in an accessible format is one of the easiest ‘reasonable adjustments’ a service can make. This can have the biggest impact on access to that service for people with a learning disability and their family carers. Just log on and download the relevant flyer – it’s that simple!”
– Stephan, Brusch Consulting Ltd
We love creating strong working relationships with health professionals to improve the health and lives of people with a learning disability. Just some of the organisations we have worked with in the past few years include NHS England, MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) England, St. George’s Hospital, and Wandsworth CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group).
The most powerful aspect – and a key element of our consultancy work – is co-delivery by people with a learning disability.
“Many of the midwives had little or no prior knowledge of how best to help and approach people with learning disabilities, but Michelle’s teaching gave them an excellent insight into how to improve their practice. As a result, that client group has been getting better care.”
We create training bespoke to your needs, working closely with you to talk through your thinking, see how we can help you, and create powerful training that touches people and stays with them.
Each time we run training, the feedback highlights how powerful it is to have someone with a learning disability there to share their story or experience. It brings our training alive and makes it real.

We have also helped to develop training with MHFA England so that their training on mental health is now suitable for people with a learning disability.
We’re working with Battersea Healthcare to help primary care services in Wandsworth to engage more people with learning disabilities. We will be producing accessible information, delivering training to healthcare professionals, and investigating the barriers people face in attending appointments.
