Accessibility Solutions

“From the get-go, it was obvious that Generate take their mission of improving the lives of people with learning disabilities very seriously. They went above and beyond to involve people with learning disabilities in every step of the process. It is this commitment to their core values that makes them stand out from the rest.”

Accessible Information

Our research has found that for people with a learning disability the biggest barrier to accessing services and getting good health and social care is a lack of easy to understand information.

We are passionate about making information easy to understand and offer various services:

  • the creation of accessible resources meeting the Accessible Information Standards,
  • the translation of standard information into easy-read information.

We have collaborated with multiple organisations across the UK to create accessible information and work closely with experts by experience, who advise on all aspects of the content, layout, and the accessibility of your information.

Training

We create trainings bespoke to your needs. Our trainings are powerful learning tools that touch people and stay with them.

Feedback highlights how powerful it is to have a trainer with a learning disability share their story. It brings our training alive and makes it real.

We have delivered

  • annual health check training to GP surgery staff,
  • learning disability awareness training to healthcare providers
  • trainings on how to support pregnant women and new mothers with a learning disability to midwives.
  • We have also collaborated with MHFA England so their training on mental health is now suitable for people
  • Accessible Tier 1 weight management training for peole with learning disabilities.
  • with a learning disability.

We have collaborated with multiple organisations, Ovacome, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England, St. George’s University Hospital (NHS Foundation Trust) and the Southwest London ICB.

We can help you too.

“Many of the midwives had little or no prior knowledge of how best to help and approach people with learning disabilities, but Michelle’s teaching gave them an excellent insight into how to improve their practice.  As a result, that client group has been getting better care.”
